Over the 4th of July weekend I was asked to photograph a family reunion! I know the family very well, so I was kind of hoping they would ask. I actually had my camera bag stashed nearby, just in case.

Well, they asked. It was really fun. This happened to be one of their family reunions, so many of the able-bodied relatives arrived. There were a lot of people! They had food catered in, the sun was hot, and the lake water was... well, how about warmer than normal. :) Kids were chasing each other off the end of the dock, I swam all over. It was great.

Once the sun began dipping behind a nearby mountain, which lowered the temperature a little, everyone began lining up for photos. There were cell phones as thick as mosquitos, but then someone asked me if I happened to have my camera. Yup!

Now, because the family has been gathering every few years since many of the adults were kids, they have a specific area where they like to be photographed and, they have a specific order. Perfect. We started with the adults and worked our way down to the youngest.

And you see that kid with no shirt? Trying to decide if he has the confidence to go without his shirt? Yup. He's mine. And his brother next to him. And their smirking sister with the purple towel. You see, this is my extended family!
